Positive: The studio was bright, very clean and beautifully decorated. Everything in the room was as shown in the online photos. The kitchenette was well-equipped and provided multiple cooking options. Likewise, the sleeping area, clothes closet, and bathroom with laundry facilities were neatly and thoughtfully designed, with modern amenities. The simple and classy decor in the studio made it homely as well as lively. I could have stayed on very comfortably at the studio for a month, it was like a mini home-away-from-home.
All communications with staff were carried out online via the Booking.com app or by talking to them on the phone. There was no personal contact with any of the staff members, which surprised me. However, the door codes eliminated the need for room keys and turned out to be quite convenient, especially when checking out very early in the morning. The staff were also very quick to respond, polite, kind and helpful with all my online queries, and I did not feel ignored or neglected even though I did not meet any of them personally.
The positive aspect of the location is that it is a 5 minute walk away from the Irving Park Station on the Blue Line, which made commuting into downtown Chicago very easy. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance from the studio, and the neighborhood was safe for walking about during daylight and early evening hours.
Negative: I was surprised to have no personal contact with the staff, as everything, from check-in to check-out was handled remotely (and quite efficiently) via the Booking.com app. This is my first experience of an 'impersonal' hotel experience, and although I realise it works economically for small properties such as this one, I have mixed feelings about it becoming mainstream in the future.
A small difficulty is with the location: it is next to the very noisy Kennedy Expressway that quietens down for only a couple of hours very late at night. The rest of the day there is a continuous sound of rushing heavy traffic, so it is difficult to keep the windows open for long. Luckily there was an excellent HVAC system in the studio, which kept the air circulating, fresh and at the temperature that I wanted, with the windows shut.
The only thing that the studio lacked for me, was a chair or sofa with a backrest and armrests, to relax in and to work on my laptop. I had a slight back pain after sitting on the high stool for many hours, so I switched to sitting on the bed with my back against the wall. But this was not an ideal solution for working on my laptop.
Other than this small problem, I had a great time at Pulaski Point Properties and would definitely consider staying here if I visit Chicago again.

Good to know
